Subtraction Within 15
Subtract from teen numbers up to 15
What You'll Learn
- Subtract from numbers 11 through 15
- Use "make a 10" strategy for teen subtraction
- Understand that 14 = 10 + 4, so 14 - 4 = 10
📖Subtracting from Teen Numbers
Now we are subtracting from numbers bigger than 10! Numbers like 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 are teen numbers.
📖Break Apart the Teen
For 13 - 5, think: 13 = 10 + 3. First use the 3: 13 - 3 = 10. Then use the rest: 10 - 2 = 8. So 13 - 5 = 8!

Your 10-bonds from the last lesson will really help here!
