   67 + 7 = ?

   1. Break apart both numbers by place value.
   2. 67 = 60 + 7
   3. 7 = 0 + 7
   4. Add the tens: 60 + 0 = 60
   5. Add the ones: 7 + 7 = 14
   6. 14 ones = 1 ten and 4 ones (regrouping)
   7. Combine: 60 + 14 = 74

   Answer: 74

2. Example 2

   31 + 45 = ?

   1. Break apart both numbers by place value.
   2. 31 = 30 + 1
   3. 45 = 40 + 5
   4. Add the tens: 30 + 40 = 70
   5. Add the ones: 1 + 5 = 6
   6. Combine: 70 + 6 = 76

   Answer: 76

3. Example 3

   19 + 31 = ?

   1. Break apart both numbers by place value.
   2. 19 = 10 + 9
   3. 31 = 30 + 1
   4. Add the tens: 10 + 30 = 40
   5. Add the ones: 9 + 1 = 10
   6. 10 ones = 1 ten and 0 ones (regrouping)
   7. Combine: 40 + 10 = 50
