   68 + 27 = ?

   1. Break apart both numbers by place value.
   2. 68 = 60 + 8
   3. 27 = 20 + 7
   4. Add the tens: 60 + 20 = 80
   5. Add the ones: 8 + 7 = 15
   6. 15 ones = 1 ten and 5 ones (regrouping)
   7. Combine: 80 + 15 = 95

   Answer: 95

2. Example 2

   19 + 25 = ?

   1. Break apart both numbers by place value.
   2. 19 = 10 + 9
   3. 25 = 20 + 5
   4. Add the tens: 10 + 20 = 30
   5. Add the ones: 9 + 5 = 14
   6. 14 ones = 1 ten and 4 ones (regrouping)
   7. Combine: 30 + 14 = 44

   Answer: 44

3. Example 3

   77 + 22 = ?

   1. Break apart both numbers by place value.
   2. 77 = 70 + 7
   3. 22 = 20 + 2
   4. Add the tens: 70 + 20 = 90
   5. Add the ones: 7 + 2 = 9
   6. Combine: 90 + 9 = 99
