   Answer: 34.02

2. Example 2

   5.97 × 6 = ?

   1. Multiply without the decimal points: 597 × 6 = 3582.
   2. Count the decimal places in the factors: 2 + 0 = 2.
   3. Move the decimal point 2 places left: 35.82.
   4. 5.97 × 6 = 35.82

   Answer: 35.82

3. Example 3

   49.4 − 21.99 = ?

   1. Line up the decimal points of 49.4 and 21.99.
   2. Subtract each column from right to left, regrouping from the next column when needed.
   3. Bring the decimal point straight down into the answer.
