1. Example 1

   Solve: 5x + 9 = 34

   1. Subtract 9 from both sides: 5x = 34 − 9 = 25.
   2. Divide both sides by 5: x = 25 ÷ 5 = 5.
   3. Check: 5 × 5 + 9 = 34 ✓ So x = 5.

   Answer: 5

2. Example 2

   Solve: 4x + 8 = 24

   1. Subtract 8 from both sides: 4x = 24 − 8 = 16.
   2. Divide both sides by 4: x = 16 ÷ 4 = 4.
   3. Check: 4 × 4 + 8 = 24 ✓ So x = 4.

   Answer: 4

3. Example 3

   Solve: 3x + 14 = 41

   1. Subtract 14 from both sides: 3x = 41 − 14 = 27.
   2. Divide both sides by 3: x = 27 ÷ 3 = 9.
   3. Check: 3 × 9 + 14 = 41 ✓ So x = 9.

   Answer: 9
