   14 − (−3) = ?

   1. Subtracting is adding the opposite: 14 − (−3) = 14 + 3.

2. Example 2

   (−24) ÷ 6 = ?

   1. Divide the numbers without their signs: 24 ÷ 6 = 4.
   2. The signs are different, so the answer is negative.
   3. (−24) ÷ 6 = −4

   Answer: −4

3. Example 3

   6 ÷ (−2) = ?

   1. Divide the numbers without their signs: 6 ÷ 2 = 3.
   2. The signs are different, so the answer is negative.
   3. 6 ÷ (−2) = −3

   Answer: −3
