Grade 1 Geometry: Halves and Quarters
Divide shapes into equal parts
What You'll Learn
- Understand equal parts
- Identify halves (2 equal parts)
- Identify quarters (4 equal parts)
📖Equal Parts
When we divide a shape into equal parts, each part is the same size. Two equal parts are called halves. Four equal parts are called quarters.
✏️Halves and Quarters
Cut a pizza in half - you get 2 equal pieces. Cut each half in half again - you get 4 quarters!
💡Remember
The parts must be equal! If one piece is bigger, they are not true halves or quarters.
