📖Breaking Apart Numbers

To multiply 23 × 4, break 23 into 20 + 3. Then: 20 × 4 = 80 and 3 × 4 = 12. Finally: 80 + 12 = 92.

📖The Area Model

You can draw a rectangle to visualize this. The width is 4, the length is 20 + 3. Find the area of each part and add them.

Always multiply the ones digit first, then the tens digit. Keep your columns lined up!
