1. Example 1

   Solve: 28 + x = 46

   1. Subtract 28 from both sides: x = 46 − 28 = 18.
   2. Check: 28 + 18 = 46 ✓ So x = 18.

   Answer: 18

2. Example 2

   Solve: n + 11 = 42

   1. Subtract 11 from both sides: n = 42 − 11 = 31.
   2. Check: 31 + 11 = 42 ✓ So n = 31.

   Answer: 31

3. Example 3

   Solve: 28 = x + 22

   1. Flip the sides so x is on the left: x + 22 = 28.
   2. Subtract 22 from both sides: x = 28 − 22 = 6.
   3. Check: 6 + 22 = 28 ✓ So x = 6.

   Answer: 6
