1. Example 1

   Simplify the ratio 235:25

   1. Find the greatest common factor of 235 and 25: the biggest number that divides both is 5.
   2. Divide both parts by 5: 235 ÷ 5 = 47 and 25 ÷ 5 = 5.
   3. So 235:25 simplifies to 47:5.

   Answer: 47:5

2. Example 2

   Simplify the ratio 108:196

   1. Find the greatest common factor of 108 and 196: the biggest number that divides both is 4.
   2. Divide both parts by 4: 108 ÷ 4 = 27 and 196 ÷ 4 = 49.
   3. So 108:196 simplifies to 27:49.

   Answer: 27:49

3. Example 3

   Simplify the ratio 16:88

   1. Find the greatest common factor of 16 and 88: the biggest number that divides both is 8.
   2. Divide both parts by 8: 16 ÷ 8 = 2 and 88 ÷ 8 = 11.
   3. So 16:88 simplifies to 2:11.

   Answer: 2:11
