  1. Example 1

    Find the mean of: 1, 7, 13, 15, 17

    1. Add all the numbers: 1 + 7 + 13 + 15 + 17 = 53.
    2. There are 5 numbers, so divide the total by 5: 53 ÷ 5 = 10.6.
    3. So the mean is 10.6.

    Answer: 10.6

  2. Example 2

    Find the mean of: 7, 9, 10, 11, 13

    1. Add all the numbers: 7 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 13 = 50.
    2. There are 5 numbers, so divide the total by 5: 50 ÷ 5 = 10.
    3. So the mean is 10.

    Answer: 10

  3. Example 3

    Find the mean of: 8, 14, 16, 17, 17

    1. Add all the numbers: 8 + 14 + 16 + 17 + 17 = 72.
    2. There are 5 numbers, so divide the total by 5: 72 ÷ 5 = 14.4.
    3. So the mean is 14.4.

    Answer: 14.4
