1. Example 1

   Solve: 5x + 15 = 55

   1. Subtract 15 from both sides: 5x = 55 − 15 = 40.
   2. Divide both sides by 5: x = 40 ÷ 5 = 8.
   3. Check: 5 × 8 + 15 = 55 ✓ So x = 8.

   Answer: 8

2. Example 2

   Solve: 5x + 14 = 29

   1. Subtract 14 from both sides: 5x = 29 − 14 = 15.
   2. Divide both sides by 5: x = 15 ÷ 5 = 3.
   3. Check: 5 × 3 + 14 = 29 ✓ So x = 3.

   Answer: 3

3. Example 3

   Solve: 7x + 10 = 45

   1. Subtract 10 from both sides: 7x = 45 − 10 = 35.
   2. Divide both sides by 7: x = 35 ÷ 7 = 5.
   3. Check: 7 × 5 + 10 = 45 ✓ So x = 5.

   Answer: 5
