How to solve Grade 7 equations problems

    Solve: 6x + 12 = 42

    1. Subtract 12 from both sides: 6x = 42 − 12 = 30.
    2. Divide both sides by 6: x = 30 ÷ 6 = 5.
    3. Check: 6 × 5 + 12 = 42 ✓ So x = 5.

    Answer: 5

    Solve: 7(x + 4) = 98

    1. Distribute the 7: 7 × x + 7 × 4 = 7x + 28, so 7x + 28 = 98.
    2. Subtract 28 from both sides: 7x = 98 − 28 = 70.
    3. Divide both sides by 7: x = 70 ÷ 7 = 10.
